What Is: Body Mass Index (BMI)

image

BMI is calculated as body mass in kilograms divided by the square of the body height in meters. Like a height/ weight chart for children, this number is then measured on one basic scale for all adults.

It can be useful to track if you're on a weight loss journey, but since it doesn't take into account the weight of your bones, muscle or organs, age, sex or body type, it is more of an overview metric than a specific one so don't rely on this number alone to judge progress!
